There has to be some intention
In the Ganga mandamus
When the cadaver is consumed
By the original flames of Lord Shiva,

There has to be some significance
When the corpse enters the fragrance of sandalwood
And its dark liquefaction
Mixes with the swirling goddess,

There has to be a mythic plan
Before the soul emerges from the yawning mouth
And dances in the holy fire
In regret or abandonment,

For how can the pundit and the dome
Believe in the immaculacy of their craft
And remain the effervescent proprietors
Of the moksha dead?
