The Floods

As black clouds approach
The homeless standing
In knee-deep flood water
Shut their eyes in fear

Help is some distance away
But the rains are far too close
Will God have some mercy
And spare them from misery

The loud drone of helicopters
Drowns their voices raised
In prayer to the Almighty
Some lives will be saved
