A November Night

This 'ghazal'
is special.

At least for a while
life is real.

This night
the eyes
wear the stars
as the head
swirls in a wonderful
flight of fantasy
an irrepressible smile
engulfs the face
that yields.

Let it be
this way
just this night'
what if nothing
about tomorrow
is sure, and
this night is
not eternity!

Until the door bell
or the telephone rings,
this ghazal
is special
at least for a while
life is real.
