A Bird’s Feelings

I am waiting for you
In the usual branch
Of the familiar tree
To come and sit beside me.
I am waiting for you
To cart off my solitude
And sing with me
Songs of love with glee.
I am waiting for you
To give me company,
To brush your wings with mine
And make me feel divine.
I am waiting for you
To take me to the sky
So blue, so high
Where we can fly.
I am waiting for you
To kiss me with your beak
To stay with me always
What else do I seek?
