Have we ever wondered, what greed took away?
We lost the love we craved for, now think of it and weigh
Where we live, what we drive, or the gold we wear
Have we ever noticed, few seem to care

We sit on a mound of pride, and build a ship of greed
Money is all we think of and money is all we need
Our purse is full of money, our morals all are gone
No time to see the setting sun, or hear the birds at dawn.

Our hearts are full of envy, and weakened heads we hold
Aloof and lonely we remain, illness we behold
We think that we are rich, but have no one to care
On a bed we lie alone, helpless over there

It’s then that we realize, happiness is not around
The ones we loved are far away, new loves cannot be found
Friends, love and happiness, with wealth cannot be bought
Can never be nursed with greed, but only by the heart

It is sad but yet is true and funny as it seems
Greed nurses nightmares, but never gentle dreams!
