Ode to Old Age

If my body were a car
I’d change it for a newer one
With dents and scratches all over
Its paints' no longer glossy fun

But that is just the least of it
With headlights focussed out
I find it especially hard to see
Things further than my snout

My traction is not graceful
As once it used to be
It skids and wobbles everywhere
Surfaces great may be

My pickup is slow and tardy
Not minutes but hours I need
With worn and choking fuel lines
To attain some cruising speed

My fuel rate has now fallen
Something always creaks
The exhaust misfires when I cough
The radiator woefully leaks!
