Theme: Words

Wall

A dialogue
Outcome!!

High Expectations
Emotions reach the sky
Ego makes each adamant
Expression breaks
Reasoning fails
Rigidity prevails
Suddenly;

Erupts as arguments
Its only speakers
With no listeners
Thousands of doubts
Trouble the mind
Talk ends across
Monologue?

Continuing from inside
A squeezing feeling
Causes uneasiness
Cramps positivity
Confuses the whole issue
Creates a vacuum
Where;

The sounds seize
Silence is steel
Irritation is concrete
Anger spreads like water
Sweet talk sounds gravel
Result in an invisible wall
Further;

Communication stalls
Prevents any thing spoken
Reach the depths of the heart
Gets struck only in the ears
Leads to a long separation
Sometimes may be all life
Instead;

A loud thought
Transmitted by one
Received by the other
Absorbed with patience
Analyzed without distortion
Prioritizing circumstances
In either mind;

Recollecting instances
Elevating objectivity
Caring for sensitivity
Respecting the right opinion,
of the thoughts’ ‘reunion’
Removing egos that bother
Continues!!

A dialogue happily
Keeps relations unendingly…

Comment We often misunderstand one another because of words which are not reciprocally appreciated instead of facilitating communication they put awall between the interlocutors. Though we live together intimately, yet we are unable to communicate. The wall within us is a stumbling-block in interaction and our messages get blocked up making us prisoners of our egos; our “mind-forged manacles.” As a result we suffer sitting in the dark corner of our own prisons, our own self-imposed isolations. Then we need a dialogue of another kind, a true dialogue that is built on mutual appreciation and empathy. When we understand and appreciate what is unsaid that will be the beginning of true communication:

But when we cease to play explorers
And become settlers, clear before us
Lies the next need – to re-define
The boundary between yours and mine;
Else, one stays prisoner, one goes free.
Each to his own identity
Grown back, shall prove our love’s expression
Purer for this limitation.
Love’s essence, like a poem’s, shall spring
From the not saying everything.

Your poem brilliantly blends together reason and emotion, it seems to have originated from a profound meditation on the problem of communication which is so crucial in the contemporary situation not only between individuals but also on a deeper level between communities and nations . Congratulations!
