Perpetual Pain

Wise people have said it often
Time is the best healer of pain...
Then why I still feel this pain
Why it never leaves me alone.

How it feels to be in love...
How it feels to love a friend
How to live without love in life
How to laugh even in extreme pain.

Learnt so many lessons from you
And also to live with the fact
That person you'd die to be with
Could never be with in lifetime again.

But by design or oversight
You forgot to teach a lesson
How to erase memory of the past
So as to overcome perpetual pain.
