Breaking The Primal Silence

Om is your name
The resolve to create us
At the cost of breaking your vow
To remain 'one without the second',

Ready to suffer agonies of Ashoka
Rising as Buddha in the war of Kalinga
Ready to crush the pride of Duryodhana
And defend the honor of Pandavas
You emanate from the primal silence
Om is your name,

Ready to lower your eyes
Before the tormenting masters
Ready to break the tradition
By reverberating as the Spartan,
Ready to turn the other cheek
Ready to love thy neighbor
Before caring for the self
You emanate from the primal silence
Om is your name,

The silent weeping and moving sobs
Shouts at assemblies and of mobs
In courts and the hospitals
In bazaars and jungles,
In the silence of the night
In the ruffling of feathers
In nestling of birds supple
In the embraces of youthful couples
And in the hug of motherly comforts
You emanate from the primal silence
Om is your name,

Half of you is sorrowful cry
And the other pleasure and joy
Making it possible for us
To transcend the both
And reach the plane of Om
The first and the last barrier
Between you and I.
