Broken Monolith

At the hands of the ignorant
You have suffered severely
O monolith, of high standing
Strange! You still pardon their folly

Like you, the tormentors will also go
To be lost in the turmoil of history
But broken rocks would continue to remind
That large-hearted Tathagata's glory

The statues always end as ruins
That may be their destiny or fate
But can essence be ever destroyed
Of compassionate Buddha, the Great!
