Misfit

To utter words you don't believe...
to propagate values that mean nothing...
You cannot choose your family, your society
and your beliefs
But what is a belief
if you don't believe in it?
Like forced fidelity
in an incompatible marriage
as unsure as as orphaned boat
in a stormy black sea
I try-I really do
but a misfit i continue to be
And if I change, an 'I' will die
these thoughts, opinions, emotions
irrational, mindless, worthless
but they are mine
my very own
and they have grown with me
become fiercer and stronger

You say you love me
but you can't accept what 'me' is all about
perhaps can't even understand it...
I don't want to be loved 
because I'm your child, your sister, your sibling
I want to be loved
because I am I
love me...if you can.
