Face Behind the Mask

Who are you? Why are you here?
What will you do?
Would you be appreciated?
Would you be remembered?
Will you leave a “mark” on the society?

Is that your responsibility?
Do you face conflicts?
Are you able to balance
your desires and responsibilities?
If not, why?

You are the “soul”,
You are not seen…
You contribute to my personality,
my ethics, values and morals.

I am the “exterior” seen by the world,
Physically noticed by everyone.
But, the exterior doesn’t equal interior,
Whereas, the internal contributes to external.
But, what importance does this “internal” space hold in every day’s life.

Seldom, if ever noticed,
“She” definitely makes her presence,
When the “body” is wrapped neatly into the white cloth,
Garlands and flowers over the body,
With mourning atmosphere all around.

This is the time when “she” is remembered the most,
But, then “she” too is moody…
Very moody as says she,
“Freedom from the body,
Freedom to move out,
At least for few seconds because,
Then again will I be prisoned for years unknown?
Until once again I start to crave for freedom.”
