Echoes of
Deep Throat*
Tales of distant past
Seem to echo in two ears
And refreshen my scribbling,
Bathed in joy and tears!
So saga of formative years
Are now etched in memory lane
While adaptation to adopted land
Reminds own sacrifice and pain!
Soon I learned where and how
To hang my hat
And settled the restless mind,
By trying this and that!
White House in Washington, D.C.
Became the epitome of my dream
Regardless of its attractions,
Where the politicians scream!
Scandals of Watergate surfaced
On each and every mouth
Hailing from East to West,
And even from North to South!
Corrupt presidency was brought down,
Out of a blue moon
And Washington Post landed on
“Deep Throat” as the feeding spoon!
His revelation after thirty years
Is now under vanity fire
And anonymous sources are wrestling
Whom to blame or admire!
His disclosure has sparked a debate
On “Deep Throat” voice
And eyes of the beholder wander
About his wrong or right choice!
Did he serve the national good,
Or a disservice to his nation?
The answer is unknown now,
To fuel the start of altercation!
Information leading to a cover up
Is already buzzing the Oval Office
for sure
And has irked the tattle tales
For the years to come and endure!
Undoubtedly, episodes of Watergate abuses
Will illuminate the
American
tales
And the echoes of Deep Throat
Will continue to ring political
bells!

former FBI Director, Mark Felt, 91, nicknamed as “Deep Throat” by the
Washington Post. Mr. Felt was the source of Watergate saga for the
Washington Post more than 30 years ago.
