Theme :  Soliloquy
The Red Setting Sun
by V. Jayalakshmi

A day of sheer solitude,
A day that was bleak and cloudy,
It will rain I decided
But anyway went for a walk.

The way was muddy with last night's rain,
The path giving way to slush and the odor of wet earth.
It is going to rain again I thought,
It is time for me to go home.

But yet I lingered in timeless solitude,
With an uncertain climate,
Where the clouds hung undecided,
To rain or not to rain the sky seemed to ask.

Beyond the cloud that hung uncertain,
The sun came streaming yellow and bright.
The clouds changed colors too,
Orange and red and sunshine yellow,
As the sun came bathing in a red setting light.
