Sitting at Work, Waiting for Harriet

Restless thoughts cloud an enthusiastic
Rendezvous about to take place,
While time slowly expands
Tantalizing and teasing,
Around an annoyingly vacant space,
Spinning in the middle of a desperate drug store.

Numb to the bustle and conversation
Of present life,
Living in an endless projection
Of possibilities and opportunities,
Anticipation changes perceptions
Of sound and motion.

The mantra of patience and being,
Starts to turn in on itself.

Suddenly there she stands, there she is.
Emotions dance and reality explodes;
Light, clarity, and inspiration return,
All with her smile and the flash of her eyes.
