Apart from the holy cities
Of Hardwar, Benaras and Prayag,
We also have British hill stations
And Portuguese resorts like
Shimla, Ooty and Goa,
Not to mention metropolitan cities
With their unique cultures,
Each with an inimitable epithet –
Brusque Delhi, sangfroid Madras,
Marxist Calcutta, avante garde Bombay.

But believe me,
All that glitters is not gold
Nowhere will you find moksha,
Solitude or bliss,
You have to carry your water bottle
Be wary of the concupiscent hotelier,
The perfidious travel guide,
The audacious driver,
The over-friendly stranger and
The combative intellectual.
