The Chosen Fate

Dreaming of
The beauty, romance and love
Of princesses and princes
While living among
The common and the commonest,
Aware of their looks,
Disgusting and freakish,
With no sense of intellectual beauty
And no vision afar,
Dead to all dreams,
I sowed the seeds of tragedy.
Still doing all that could be done
To lift them.
Quite late came the realization
Common mean vices
Gripped them always
Trapping my dreams
In their plotting
Mocking my love
And concealing their delight
In my soulful of agonies.

Whirling emotions
In the eddies of love
Raised qualms of conscience.
Looking to eternity for fulfillment,
This poor brief man
Wasted himself in sighs and yearnings.
Be the earthiest of the earthy
In love, lore and leanings
To avoid pain and misery.
