SE area has the Agni (fire element) influence. It is a good place to cook food because the food will receive the nourishing effects of the Agni energy. Also, for the woman of the house, the infra-red energy coming in that area is very healing for the physiology. Vastu Science is very complex in terms of requirements. These few things you mention are fine, but there is very much more to consider. Normally, we prefer the kitchen to be in the SE corner, but NW is considered a secondary location that is accepted. – Michael Borden, July 16, 2006
