Question 1005
I Living in a Gurgaon of Haryana state. My house is a Single bed room, Hall and kitchen. Will you please tell me as per Vastu what should be the direction of these rooms?
– Rakesh Lande, July 24, 2006

Kitchen in the SE, face east while cooking. Master bedroom in the SW, sleep with top of head to east or south. Prayer room in the NE, Gods facing east. Keep the center of the house free and open as a sacred place. – Michael Borden, August 8, 2006

Question 1004
Sir, Three years back I have bought a single room -kitchen flat. The entrance of the flat is in the east. The kitchen is in the north and also kitchen platform facing north. The toilet is on the northwest side. There is a drainage in front of our house. The drainage is just 5-6 feet away from the entrance of the house. According to Vastu , I have shifted the cooking place to southeast. There is always financial problem in my home. Can you suggest anything so that I can improve my Vastu without demolishing anything?
– Niranajan, July 19, 2006

In the SE cook facing east. Clear out the center space of the flat and keep for sacred space. More advise that this needs a professional review, with examination of floor plan, orientation and dimensions. – Michael Borden, August 8, 2006

Question 1003
Hi, We are buying a duplex house. The house is Vastu compliant but it does not have a back door. We have 10 doors which includes the door to the terrace. What are the changes that we would need to make so that it is perfectly in line with Vastu? It is a east facing house. Is it a must to have a back door?
– Neena, July 19, 2006

The front door should always have a window or door opposite it across on the other side of the house and there should be a line of sight through the house to it. – Michael Borden, August 8, 2006

Question 1002
We live in a flat whose entrance is from the South, and the North-east portion is cut i.e. the flat is in a L shape. 1/4 in breadth, and 2/3 in length is cut in the North-east. Within the house the kitchen is in the south-east, master bedroom in the south-west. We bought this flat 10 years ago, and all the tenants have been very happy here....we shifted here last year, and health and finances have been affected. Since we are on the third floor, we cannot extend the north east....please urgently suggest a remedy. Will mirrors on the north east and east wall inside the house help?
– Anuradha Ganesh, July 17, 2006

Mirrors are not a part of Vastu recommendation. If the previous tenant was happy and prosperous, then the issue is probably not the flat. Get advise from an expert in astrological matters. Remedy for flats is not usually possible. It would take detailed examination and extensive remodeling most likely. Some of your room locations seem fine, but there is so much to consider, it takes a careful examination. You will need to email me details for a professional consultation if you wish. – Michael Borden, August 8, 2006

Question 1001
I can keep my bed in 2 directions: 1. East - West: with head towards the east or 2. South - North: with the head towards the south. Which one is preferred & why?
– Priti Doshi, July 17, 2006

Sleep with top of head to east or south.  Top of head towards the East is preferred over the South. This has to do with relationship to solar influences and magnetic field of Mother Earth.  – Michael Borden, August 8, 2006
