Do you have a question? Use our Question submission Form

Question 1040
Shich direction is used for kitchen except east-south? Is north-east direction suitable? Plot is facing west.
– Shikha, September 07, 2006

It is acceptable, but not ideal, to have the kitchen in the North West area with cooking still facing east. – Michael Borden, October 22, 2006

Question 1039
I have bought a Flat in an apartment and the main door when closed faces the North. I had this in mind but when I see the layout I see the master bedroom in the South-East now. I read quiet a lot and understand that this is not good. Any remedies for the same. I can send you the floor plan as well. Let me know how ?
– Rohinton M Wadia, September 07, 2006

I would need to review the whole floor plan. You could try putting your bed in the SW area of the SE bedroom. – Michael Borden, October 22, 2006

Question 1038
Hello, The new house that we are thinking of renting has West entrance with living room in the North and Kitchen in the South/SE. However, the master BR is in North East and kids room in South/SW. The building plot faces North. Flat no is 902. Is it okay to have master BR in NE? If not, any other ways of adjusting and/or counterbalancing this? How shall we place the bed? Thanks
– Kirti Kasliwal, September 04, 2006

It would be better to have your master bedroom in the South/SW and put the children in the NE. Sleep with top of head to east or south. – Michael Borden, October 22, 2006

Question 1037
I am going to buy a flat. My flat door entrance is south east and Apartments entrance is facing south and kitchen is facing north east. Is it good to buy that house?
– Valisetty kiran, September 4, 2006

It is very difficult to apply Vastu principle to an existing flat. You can't treat it as an individual only, you need to consider the whole building configuration also. You must verify the REAL building orientation, not just roughly figure that it faces east or some such direction. Analysis of your flat requires expert and careful consultation. In general, the facing of a door can be ANY direction of the cardinal points, BUT, it MUST be properly located. Just to have an east facing door does not solve the problem. It must be auspiciously located. Master bedroom in south west is good, but it must be located within the whole context of the group of flats also. The same goes for all the room locations. Don't worry about the facing of your interior doors, it is completely insignificant in this case. Unless they are properly designed and constructed, with gaps between the walls of the individual flats, these type of modern buildings create a situation where there is no vibrational separation between families.  – Michael Borden, October 22, 2006

Question 1036
We are living in a home having three bedrooms and one living room and kitchen in the front of the entrance. Main entrance of the home is in the south and as well as north. Plot is square 250 sq. feet and three side open. Front portion has been covered by five shops. All the time we family members fighting with each other. There is no peace in our home and lack of wealth also. Pls. advice us.
– Sushila Kakran, September 3, 2006

Try using the north entrance more. Otherwise, get some good family counseling and don't look outside yourself to to blame your troubles. Work on yourselves and make peace in your family. – Michael Borden, October 22, 2006
