Question 1060
Hi, Year back we bought a house, main door is facing SE & kitchen in in SE. Master-bed is in N position, workplace is in SW position. We are facing problems, so I want to know is it a good house?
– Madhu, October 14,2006

In general, the influence of a building orientation with proper entrance location is as follows: East: physical comfort and mental peace, South: salvation, redemption, freedom from earthly worries, moksha. (However, south oriented entrance is not the most recommended for householders who favor material prosperity) West: material prosperity (big numbers), North: general prosperity. Kitchen should be in SE, Master Bedroom in SW, Center of house should be free and clear of walls for Brahmastan, Puja Room in NE. Entrance should be auspiciously located. Toilets need to be off centerlines and out of corners and ideally, not within the geometry of the mandala of the house. That is the basic, but there is much more to consider. – Michael Borden, December 6, 2006

Question 1059
Dear Michael Sir, My flat is on the second floor and east facing. The entrance door opens to the hall. From the centre of the hall, there's a passage to the two bedrooms towards the north direction. At the beginning of the passage, on the west side is the kitchen with a window towards the west, while the bathrooms are towards the eastern side of the passage. The master bedroom is on the north eastern side where we sleep. I use the north western side bedroom as study room where my parents also sleep when they visit me once in a while. However, there is no mental peace because my wife does not like to be in Mumbai (she is from Bangalore) and I have not achieved success in get a good job though I have good qualifications and experience. Please suggest me where are the amendments needed for a successful career and mental peace. Regards,

First of all, flats are very difficult to predict in terms of Vastu influence. In general, if you live in a flat, you should just forget about Vastu applications. It will drive you crazy to think about many things that do even really apply. Flats have mixed up, confused energy and everyone shares it. You just need to create a sacred space of your own, with your own intelligence and intuition, to bring you some peace. If you find a "Vastu" consultant who says there is a definitive and definite move that can me made for predictable results, they will probably be just making a rupee off you and that's it. You need to examine the exact building orientation and the location and function of all items in the building, not just your apartment. Then all needs to be adjusted, which is impossible. NE is not bad for a bedroom in a pinch. If your wife is not happy, this is your biggest Vastu consideration. The wife is the master of the house. Make your wife happy and all else will come to good. – Michael Borden, December 6, 2006

Question 1058
Sir, My house is facing south. It has three entrances. The main door is facing south -southeast, back door is facing north and the other door is facing west. Kitchen is in northeast. Master bedroom in north east. I'm not feeling happy in this house so I'm planning to buy another house. Please advise me, where should be the main entrance door and the rest.
– Siva Palini, October 6, 2006

I need to know the exact location of the south door, or I cannot advise. Vastu is an exact science. If your house is not a Vastu house, then there are probably many things not compliant with Vastu Science. Room location is only a small part of Vastu. Kitchen in NE is not advised in term of Vastu Science. – Michael Borden, December 6, 2006

Question 1057
I am buying a bungalow of east facing site but builder is giving main entrance in the south-east and the kitchen in the north-west. Please let me know what I have to do?
– Niraj Singh, October 3, 2006

The main entrance needs to be placed on the east wall so that the south side of the door is on the centerline of the house. (Looking from outside.) Kitchen in NW is acceptable but better if it is in the SE. Cook facing east. – Michael Borden, December 6, 2006

Question 1056
Hi, My name is Jyothi Harish. Have seen a flat which entrance is West facing. Need to know if this is fine for me to go ahead and purchase or deny this. I am married and my husband's name is Harish Kumar. Pls check on both of our names and suggest us on this.
– Jyothi Harish, October 3, 2006

It is very difficult to apply Vastu principle to an existing flat. You can't treat it as an individual only, you need to consider the whole building configuration also. You must verify the REAL building orientation, not just roughly figure that it faces east or some such direction. Analysis of your flat requires expert and careful consultation. In general, the facing of a door can be ANY direction of the cardinal points, BUT, it MUST be properly located. Just to have an east facing door does not solve the problem. It must be auspiciously located. Master bedroom in south west is good, but it must be located within the whole context of the group of flats also. The same goes for all the room locations. Don't worry about the facing of your interior doors, it is completely insignificant in this case. Unless they are properly designed and constructed, with gaps between the walls of the individual flats, these type of modern buildings create a situation where there is no vibrational separation between families    – Michael Borden, December 6, 2006
