Beast of
Burden

All my life
I've lived
in the city of joy
called Calcutta
nay Kolkata
I've carried your weight around cheerfully,
never complaining
Now I'm tired
My strength have lessened
while the cost of subsistence have increased
And today you tell me
Hand pulled rickshaws will be banned henceforth
That I should change my calling
Can you tell me where would I find another one?
Do I not have a right to live?
Have I become a beast of burden for you?
