What Do You Perceive?
Drawn like a moth to a flame
I see Buddha in the haze
The gentle smile upon his face
I cannot tell what is behind
His gaze, does it only hold
A cold aloofness, a distance
Knowledge, awareness, dreams
Or did he love,
The kind humans are capable of
Love that changes the facade
Of what is seen
Dreamy dreams that transforms
A mortal into a god
Tell me what you think
Did he drink from the bitter cup
And touch a rose to his lips
Aware of its beauty and despair
Of love won and lost
Bittersweet moments
Tossed to us by gods of old
To watch us romp through the mire
To attain our heart's desire.
