Woman
with A Painting Brush
She sought to create Beauty
A case of Beauty creating Beauty ?
Unreal beauty in the platonic sense
Art is a copy of the physical reality
Which itself is a copy of the Idea
Art is therefore base
Being twice removed from Reality
Her attempt to capture the mountains
Is futile unless she experiences
The freedom of the mountains
She stands frozen in time
Her painting brush has lost its
Delicate strokes
The canvas remains unfilled
The painter is stricken with
Creative block
The woman 's dilemma
Is the arch-type artist's dilemma
If she experiences the freedom
Of the mountains
She can no longer be an artist
If she does not experience it in her heart
She cannot capture the mountains in her art.
