Workshop # 11
Look Inside
Don’t get so deceived
seeing me in chains,
Have been this way since centuries
there really is no pain..
I stand there bare n’ naked
for the whole world to see,
For I’m not really what I was
they’ve taken my soul from me..
I’m there for all passers-by
to openly touch and feel,
If it weren't for these helpless hands
my face too would have no shield..
Though I may not be Me as a whole
I’m there in all women,
A part of them too is tied
no matter how far they claim to have come..
They too are bound in chains
of expectations, promises and such,
Though they may’ve made freedom movements
looking at me, all that doesn’t seem much..
Their faces are covered too
in makeup or fake smiles,
To really taste freedom
we are all yet to go miles..
What lies beyond these chains
perhaps we do not wish to know,
For if we let go and see what we can’t have
the well of tears just might overflow..
