Mother to her Child

Let my affectionate gaze guide your path
My embrace shield you from every wrath
Existence for me has no richer treasures
Nor divine salvation any greater pleasures.

Oceans are mere drops of my infinite love
Fly O child into my arms' ambrosial cove
My feet maybe mired in life's shifting sand
But I'll hold you, my immortality in hand.

The child's answer is rooted in our Hindu adage – Janani janmabhoomischa swargaad api gariyasi. The mother and the motherland have greater attraction
than even heaven.

In another ancient culture – O Jerusalem, if I forget thee, let my right hand lose my cunning and let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth.
