Prof. Ramnarayan Mishra had a distinguished career in Orissa Education Service (Higher Education). He has served in various government institutions in different parts of the state such as Maharaja Purnachandra College, Baripada, Rajendra College, Bolangir, Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Police Training College, Angul, Fakir Mohan College, Balasore, Government College, Sundargarh. On being selected by the Orissa Public Service Commission, he joined as Professor of Political Science in Gangadhar Meher (post graduate) College (Autonomous) in 1997 and functioned as the Principal till his retirement in August,2005. He is known for his innovative approach to higher education in the state.
