Melanie Priya Kumar

Melanie Priya Kumar holds an Honors degree in English and a Post-Graduate degree in Mass Communications. She has 15 years of work experience of which eight years are media-related. After her last job in Corporate Communications in an IT company, Melanie forked out on her own as a freelance writer and Editorial Consultant. For the past five years, she has been writing for the local newspapers as well as on the Net. Her areas of interest include gender, development, social, cultural and political issues. Melanie also dabbles in poetry and fiction and some of her short stories have been published in newspapers as well as on the Net. “Writing is my passion,” says Melanie. “I have been mesmerized by the written word and have been a voracious reader since my childhood.” Having lived across four states in India and traversed through many more, Melanie speaks five Indian languages. She enjoys India’s cultural diversity, which is “one of our greatest strengths.” Melanie is married to an academician and they have one daughter.
