Sherrie Gore

Sherrie Gore received her degree Magna cum laude in Paralegal Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to becoming an educator she worked as a paralegal, a secretary, an office manager and traffic manager at a radio station, and a reserve police officer. She donated her time to attend the training academy and then to working as a reserve deputy sheriff to help make her community safer for her children. Her philosophy of life is a combination of Celtic, Native American Indian, and Eastern philosophies.

As an educator in a high school setting working with "at-risk" students, she tried to teach students more than English/Language Arts and Social Studies, which she was paid to teach her students. She feels educators need to teach these young people about life, tolerance, compassion, love for nature, respect, how to be resourceful, and how to develop understanding.

She also stressed to her students that we must live in harmony with nature and respect all living things. She tried to make the students realize that the earth is ours, not to own, but to share with other species.

She has been composing poems and stories since she was 14 years old. After a hiatus of nineteen years, she recently began writing again. Writing has become her main survival mechanism and of her writings are based on her life experiences. She has four wonderful children which range in age from 4 years to 24 years.
