On the Eve of Indepence Day...

Tomorrow is the day I will not remember
because I was not born on that day of freedom.
I was born in days of isolation,
where school children had no rights
to be protected from bullying teachers.

I inveigled myself into the world of theatre,
poetry and song.
That was not freedom.
It was breaking away from it
into the oxymoron of truths.

Impediments like mathematics came in the way.
I did geometry
understood
parallel lines of discomfort.

I was born after independence,
when freedom was getting a trifle sullied,
in awakening of grand myths.
Story telling and the farce of war.

I don't understand independence.
But yes, I understand freedom.
