Top 3 Indian Film Actors
by Stephanie Williams Bookmark and Share

If you're a fan of Direct.TV international movie programming packages, you get to watch your favorite Indian movies from the comfort of your couch. When it comes to the Bollywood big stage, certain actors stand out above the rest. And regardless of the movies in which they appear, these 3 actors represent the best that the Indian movie industry has to offer:

Shahrukh Khan

One of Bollywood's most famous and well-paid actors, this movie star has won 7 Filmfare Best Actor Awards, including awards for his recent roles in My Name is Khan and Chak De India. He's been nominated for many awards and has carried away several other Filmfare Critics Awards for Best Actor. His most recent awards have included the 2012 Screen Awards Best Actor for his role in Don 2, and the International Indian Film Academy's Best Actor Award for his role in My Name is Khan. Khan is, without a doubt, one of the best actors in the Indian movie industry.

Hrithik Roshan

Roshan began his career as a child actor, but has since made a name as an award-winner in the movie industry. His most recent accomplishments include a nomination for the 2012 Filmfare Best Actor Award. Dating back to 2001, Roshan has accumulated four Filmfare Best Actor Awards for his roles in movies such as Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Koi…Mil Gaya, Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan has starred in more than 80 Hindi films, and holds the record for appearances in yearly top grossing films with 8. Khan is consistently nominated for Filmfare Best Actor Awards, and even won the 2011 Star Screen Award for Best Actor for his role in Dabangg.  His recent films Bodyguard and Ready were also big Bollywood hits. His Bodyguard performance was nominated for a Filmfare Best Actor Award, and it won a Star Screen Award for Best Actor. Khan won a Star Screen Award for Best Actor for his role in Ready.

These actors help define the Indian film industry today, and going forward it doesn't look like their stardom and contribution to Bollywood films will fade.

Article Comment A better list for India's top 3 actors could be Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan and the late Thilakan.
Indian cinema is not just Bollywood, see. :)
And these actors have proved their acting credibility enough over the years. Honourable mentions could be guys like Naseeruddin Shah, Mammootty, Sivaji Ganesan, Uttam Kumar, Sowmitra Chatterjee, Anant Nag, Rajkumar, Thilakan, Bharat Gopi, Nedumudi Ven Paresh Rawal and Pankaj Kapoor.
These guys could act circles around Shahrukh, Hrithik and Salman.
