Auld Lang Syne

As the bubbly popped out and every one sang

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

The words 'Auld Lang Syne' literally translates from old Scottish dialect meaning 'Old Long Ago' and is about love and friendship in times past. The lyrics in the song Auld Lang Syne referring to 'We'll take a Cup of Kindness yet' relate to a drink shared by men and women to symbolize friendship. Happy New Year!!!!

As I sipped my Ginger Ale, I thought of all my friends and of all others too, and wondered what will, the year of the Lord, – “2012” – bring for everyone. I visualized prosperity and happiness coming to everyone all over. The year 2012 is going to be the best year so far – with all the young ones taking over the helm of the ship of our beautiful World, bringing every one closer as we sail on and on. And so my predictions and my “Wishes” for 2012 are just blossoming in my thoughts, and I am penning it down in the following.

At the outset, obviously, I predict, may I say I also “Wish” – PEACE – in all the troubled regions of our World. Peace that will bring prosperity. Prosperity that will bring satisfaction, to everyone who clamors for ones traditions to be recognized and respected, satisfaction that will sooth the hurt that creates turmoil. I predict and also “Wish” that it will happen in 2012. Politics appears to be an arena of bad. But it is an art of getting and bringing people together—the art of possible-- which is always a compromise based on fundamental likes and dislikes. Compromise brings progress, progress that creates new systems and enhances the old values. I predict, and again I “Wish”—a vigorous political discourse in 2012, that will result in progress, at all fronts and at every home and for every homeless too.

I have great faith in the American Democracy, European thought, Russian tenacity, Chinese and Japanese work ethics, Indian way of living together and compassion and of the whole Muslim World’s tremendous faith. I see that all will bring their finest attributes to the table and our beautiful World will forge together a peace – leaping ahead towards a bright and wonderful way of living together – respecting every ones God, values and rights. We are getting closer to it every day, and as 2012 just began my prediction, nay, my “Wish”, is fresh as a daisy, a rose, a violet really as a garden. And my garden will bloom, my God will provide – I know he will, because I pray with devotion – water and fertilize it. I will smell roses and, you, the reader will too – all year round.  I am writing it for you and I visualized the garden also for you.

The fireworks that you saw on your TVs, from all across the World had a purpose and the Ball that comes down in the
Time Square is just so beautiful and as the bubbles in my ale vanished I sang once again:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Predicting and wishing Peace and Prosperity in 2012. Happy New Year !!!
