Adieu My Friend
by Perrin Abbas Bookmark and Share

I had known Rohit, not for long - a year maybe. Pulling his leg was something I enjoyed most. The best part about him was that he didn't mind it at all. In the short span that I knew him, I realized that here was one guy who would do anything to see a smile on his mother's face. He was a son any mother would want; hard-working, loving and caring. He was an ambitious person and had big plans for the future - moving up the corporate ladder and getting married to Shweta this year were just a couple of them.

But fate had something else in store for him. On the fateful night of December 13th 2000, Rohit bid goodbye to all of us - he met with an accident on Sinhagad Road - an accident which shattered the lives of his family and friends. Even now it's difficult to digest the fact that he isn’t there anymore. No more calls from him, no more visits -nothing.

As all humans, he too had a weakness.......SLEEP!! And when Rohit slept, he slept!! Not even an earthquake could wake him up!

Now my friend, as you sleep the eternal sleep, the vacuum you've created in our lives will never be filled. I bid a tearful adieu to you. Somehow I know we'll meet again. Not quite sure where, and when....I don’t know. I would like to say one thing to you Rohit--I know that God will keep you safe and you will keep him busy, for this is not goodbye, just good luck on your new adventures!! All of us will miss you.
