Cricket Ramblings...

Let me sum up the Indian cricket scene.

The ranking in the one days is among the best, but in Test Cricket it is still somewhere in the bottom. Bottoms up! Yuvraj has come back, but Ganguly says he should not have, Virat Kohli has reacted to this saying, that he does not agree with Ganguly, who is now a shade of his Bengal Tiger, and the 'Dada' image. Virat Kohli is of course the latest discovery, out shadowing even men like Sehwag and Gambhir, and his promotion to the Vice Captain position shows that the selectors are seriously considering him for the captaincy and taking him very seriously, after Tendulkar of course.

Kohli says he should not be compared to Tendulkar, but feels honoured that he has been bestowed with such a comparison. That is ambiguous, but obviously he is feeling great, especially after the 'Little Master' has paid him rich accolades. So, now Kohli has also started commenting to the media, which is a very good sign, because most of the cricketers after they hang up their boots, become commentators. So, playing International cricket paves the way to be a commentator, which I am told is richly paying, in terms of money, almost like that of a cricketer.

Yuvraj is of course swearing that he will do his best, and so are the media, almost everyday there are reports about him, his comeback and the feel good factor. I too, feel very good about it. India has drubbed the Kiwis at home, by an innings, which once again proves that at home they are tigers, but outside paper tigers... Sorry no innuendo meant here, but outside you see, climatic and weather conditions are different, more cold, stormy, windy etc.

The Indian under 19 has won the world cup, and hopefully we shall see some new faces especially in the IPL. So India after the Sri Lanka tour which they won, has again reinstated its position of the inconsistent World Champions in cricket.

V V S Laxman has retired hurt, just like Dravid. But both of them have negotiated too many bouncers, and before retirement, I suppose they felt, and rightly so, that they had one too many!' Having said this like a monologue, my friend's flurry of words ended. I noted down the salient points, and decided I had enough content, for my next article!
