The Faceless...

The expected has happened. Reports say that LPG Cylinders are being sold in the ubiquitous 'black market' in Shillong for Rs 1800. This is unprecedented, but is expected, after the Govt's mindless embargo on limiting purchase of Gas Cylinders. Why did the govt. not understand that in the situation of more demand than supply, this is ideal for profiteering in illegal ways? This is a simple maxim of economics. And this will happen all over the country. Even when, the supply was normal there has been rampant black marketeering in cities such as Delhi. I myself have experienced this bitter situation, when suddenly the supply is short. Artificial crises will always lead to an increase in demand, because of short supply, then the windfall goes to exploiters and unscrupulous people trafficiking in consumerism and illegal motives.

We live in not only hard times, but bad times. There is no accountability, but only rule of the rich, where the impoversihed have been reduced to animality.

Now, my whole question is what will the government to do to reduce such calamious effects? LPG Cylinders are not a luxury, they are a necessity even for the poor. How will households be run, and once the well off capitulate, by purchasing in the balckest of markets; prices will escalate further- illegal prices that is.

We need a transparency as to what necessitated this, what was the rationale, how will the people suyrvive? Team Anna please note, this is also entailing corruption. Please mobilize public opinion, instead of forming a power establishment.

The poor in India are not only getting poorer, they have no voice, they are powerless and voiceless. Everytime an artificial crisis is created, there is exploitation. What about promises of being poor friendly? If this were true, why was such an arbitrary decision, in an autocratic manner taken? Was it a ploy to save money, to stave off the coal scam, which has depleted coffers of the country and the people? Is it a give and take policy, to make effete amends to counter blushes, and a saving grace?

We live in not only hard times, but bad times. There is no accountability, but only rule of the rich, where the impoversihed have been reduced to animality. There is no sensitivity for the suffering and wanton lack of policies with direction, which can take care of all sections.

One shudders to think of the poor and the much vaunted BPL. Who cares for the faceless numbers? Let the government suggest new measures for cooking, or yes let us use all the coal that we have bought!

You are very right Mr Guha... this kind of policies only encourages the corrupt and are no good for the poor. Indeed what else to expect from the government who is itself so corrupt.
