Was feeling really curious after seeing many of my friends sharing the Deepika Padukone starrer 'My choice' link in facebook/Twitter. Couldn't watch it earlier thanks to my forgetfulness. Today I decided to watch it. Watched. Didn't like it.
Mary Wollstonecraft, the founder of modern feminist movement would certainly have suffered from severe cardiac arrest, if she watched this video or such degradation of her Women's Rights Concept. Feminism and Feminist Fundamentalism are not same. Some of the lines of 'My Choice' short film are definitely good but most lines are so arrogant. Before delivering such big lectures to your boyfriend/husband, kindly consider will you accept the same in a cool mind if that happens to you ? To marry or Not to marry is definitely your choice, but once you are married, then having a baby or not should be the choice of both husband and wife. Yes, to have sex before marriage, to have sex outside of marriage, or to not have sex is certainly your choice, but in that case, don't point out your finger toward your male partner if he engages in physical relationship with another woman before or after the marriage, or neglects your biological demand totally. Of course, it's your choice to love temporarily or to lust forever, but in that case, be mentally ready without criticism if your boyfriend leaves you after some enjoyment or gives more importance to your flesh than your mind, and please don't say then that, "Boys are so bad/Men are dogs."
You are a human being first, then a woman, just like the way, your opposite gender is a human being first, and then a man. We are not God. So, saying stuff like "To pick you from 7 billion choices/ my pleasure might be your pain/ My songs, your noise/ My order, your anarchy/ Your sins, my virtues" is kind of female chauvinism. At the end of the day, irrespective of gender, we all want a beautiful relationship, where we can breathe peacefully. And, that relationship can never exist if one goes with 'I am the authority, I have all the power, so nobody can control me' kind of attitude. A big thumbs down to such irresponsible video/message.
