Loss of a Benevolent Guide

and Father figure in Energy sector

T.L.Shankar, an expert on energy who guided many projects particularly in the erstwhile combined state of Andhra Pradesh and contributed to several policy initiatives as an Advisor at National level, passed away recently .
He was awarded Padma Bhushan for his contributions.

An IAS officer of the 1957 batch, he was not a quintessential Bureaucrat.

Having been associated with him in the board of a Power Generating Company- first public private Joint venture founded by him in the early 90’s,I was always wonderstruck by his indomitable spirit to chart ways for the common good of all the stakeholders, inexhaustible passion to adopt the new technology and practices and encourage and standby the new initiatives .

Ethical and sustainable way forward in the energy sector – a low key priority in those days received a boost from a group of right thinking NGO’s founded by professional with analytical skills. Mr Shankar was associated with all of them and share the knowledge and details with one and all.

Personally I have benefited from lot of personal notes with whole lot of papers and analytics- he used to share. He had no qualms to discuss any idea with anyone .

Rare comes a person with a benevolent bent of mind, concern for the common good caring to share the knowledge and standby any ethical new iniative like Mr. T.L.Shankar.
