Dr. Cary T. Grayson, Physician to the 28th US President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) prescribed, " A rational diet, adequate exercise, and wholesome hours of sleep are the foundation upon which a reserve of strength (health) must be built". He recommended ,"Eight hours of work, eight hours of sleep, and eight hours for play, and all to God".

The human being is a marvel created by God as detailed in the Holy Bible. (Ref: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). (19) Do you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which you have received from God. You are not your own; (20) You were bought at a price, Therefore honor God with your body".

The human body is built from Proteins, Fats, Carbohydrates, Minerals, and Water, Enzymes, Co-enzymes and oxygen. The inbuilt Godly faculty of metabolism i.e. jointly anabolism and catabolism provide for energy storage and energy release respectively, which are intimately balanced to provide optimal health to the human being.

Health is defined as a condition of optimal well-being, and freedom from disease or abnormality of the body or mind (physical or mental).

Drug is defined as a substance used for the diagnosis, treatment or relief of symptoms of a disease. In addition may be used for optimal spiritual health.

Disease is a byproduct of STRESS, which is s term coined by Hans Selye (1972), and labelled as the General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS), Consisting of three stages: (i) Alarm Reaction, Adaptation, and Exhaustion. As a result of chronic stress, the coping mechanism fails leading to diseases of adaptation, namely stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, and coronary heart disease among many others.

Drug Abuse is the excessive use of a drug unrelated to its ethical and approved medical uses.

These drugs may be of three types: (i) Permitted by society, like Nicotine & Alcohol, (ii) Prescriptive drugs, used to treat various diseases, ans (iii) Under strict drug control, like Opium products, Cannabis, LSD & Mescaline.

For the prevention and treatment of various drug addiction(s), de-addiction departments/hospitals have been set-up to manage the avoidable man-made misadventure(s)

For the much needed psychological support to the patient many institutions like the Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotic Anonymous, Temperance Movement, Spiritual Appeal, Yoga & Meditation have been tried, together with support from the family members. Various drugs have also been developed with limited success. Moreover Drug Control measures have to be strengthened.
