Elections to Upper House
by Dr. Varanasi Ramabrahmam Bookmark and Share

Sending individuals to upper parliamentary house has become a farce and mockery of democracy.

The way the parties are behaving and conducting themselves has become a serious breach of spirit of upper house and horse-trading is vocally publicly feared by all parties.

It was, is and will be shame on indian democracy. And many candidates do not belong to the state and do not reside in the address furnished. Many upper house candidates compromise in their identity and placeof residence.

This is the pest overtaken the crop of Indian parliament elections.

A person was prime minister for 10 years getting "elected" from an address furnished falsely deliberately. The less said about many senior leaders is the better.

India has to suffer from these maladies in direct and indirect elections.

Elected representatives being herded to and put in costly hotels and resorts is public ridicule of elections to the upper house and evidence of the role of money.
