Keeping Indian Rituals Intact

Indian Rituals have been practiced since ages. Ancient India strictly followed these rituals and maintained harmony and peace of mind.  As development progresses, modern man has lost these practices which are vital for righteous living.  A brief recap of some of those rituals for the benefit of mankind and especially to the younger generation is presented.

Surya Namaskars are considered the best form of prayer for anyone in the morning. They energize the body afresh. In olden days the practice of taking food on the floor has been in practice.

Next to this Gayatri Mantra, the Mantra of Mantras used to be chanted for several times in a day. The Bijakshar "Aum" carries power and immense potential. Those who chant this Mantra are protected against all dangers. Hospitality is yet another Indian ritual followed down the ages. A guest is treated with utmost care, concern and love.  He or she is looked upon the deity since the visit is considered to be the most fruitful and divine.

Children and old aged people are offered fruits whenever they are visited by others. Their happiness is a blessing in disguise for those who offer them. It has been a long time ritual.

Tulasi plant or Ocimum leaves are worshipped in the household. They protect the inmates against poisonous substances released by the air. Those who take Ocimum leaves everyday are gifted with extraordinary memory power.

Even waking and sleeping hours are clearly mandated. Those who wake up during Amrutha Ghadiyalu, Maharshi Ghadiyalu and Deva Ghadiyalu are indeed divinely blessed.

Gods and Goddesses sit in Puja during those hours. Those who wake up after 6.00 am are considered demons. People who wake up at 4.00 am maintain good life styles.

They can spend time at the altar of worship for doing PUJA. Another Indian ritual is respecting parents who are the First Gods and Goddesses.

In this order as the Sanskrit Shloka goes: Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devi Bhava occupy the positions. Parents and teachers are venerated next to Gods.

Visiting temples has been in practice for centuries. At least man is under some fear not to commit any sin. The offer of flowers to temple deity is another ritual that Indians desperately follow.

A flower to the Deity is what the devotee feels please the Lord. Even in the Indian context, people celebrate birthdays against the rituals. They light the lamp and cut the cake in modern fashion.

But they put out the light. Let the Light illuminate the body and mind of the individual. Indian ritual mandates that light should not be put out. "Deepa Jyoti Namostu Te” is the spirit of this unique ritual.

The chanting of Vedic Hymns is so powerful that all evil forces do not enter the premises. Even sharing of an unexpected bad news is strictly imposed during the solemnization. The sanctity of marriage ceremony is thus one of Indian rituals.

Any Indian ceremony is followed by the Vedic practices.  Satva, Tamo and Rajas - the Trigunas - are strictly imposed in Indian rituals.

Anyone who practices them eventually leads a life of divine bliss and protection. Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj has been ancient Indian ritual.  Three crores of deities enter the river waters during Kumbh Mela. Taking a holy dip is considered to be most divinely gifted.
