From 'No Idea' to Europe

The Making of a Logistics Star

“Can you name any five countries in Europe?” the interviewer asked.

“No idea,” Deepti replied, without hesitation or embarrassment, with a confidence that would later define her career.

It’s the kind of answer that would end most interviews. For Deepti, it was the beginning.

Years ago, beneath the footbridge over Nehru Place, she stood waiting for a bus, uncertain about the future and unaware of what lay ahead. A phone call interrupted her thoughts. It was about a job opportunity, an indoor role she deeply wanted at the time. Only later did she discover that the position was in logistics, a field she knew nothing about.

Yet uncertainty never intimidated her.

“I didn’t overthink it,” she recalls. “I just went for the interview.”

That instinct to act rather than hesitate became her greatest strength. She walked into the interview with confidence and walked out with a job, not because she had the right answers, but because she had the right attitude.

Deepti’s journey has never followed a conventional script. After secondary school, while her peers chose predictable paths such as engineering, medicine, or law, she took a different route. She studied Home Science, followed by a postgraduate degree in Public Relations at Delhi University.

It wasn’t a rebellion. It was clarity.

She understood early on that her strengths lay in people, connection, communication, and compassion. Rather than conform, she refined these qualities, making them the foundation of her professional life.

“I’ve always believed I can sell anything,” she says, smiling.

Her workspace reflects that belief, dynamic, efficient, and alive with purpose. In one striking moment, she is seen managing calls with a landline receiver pressed to one ear and a mobile to the other, seamlessly coordinating between warehouses and clients. It’s not chaos; it’s control.

“I love my work, from the bottom of my heart,” she says, her eyes gleaming with sincerity.

What began as a small venture in Rajendra Nagar, with five colleagues sharing a modest office and a big dream, soon grew into something far larger. With relentless energy and unwavering trust in her team, Deepti helped build a logistics startup from the ground up.

They named it Spedition, a German term for logistics, chosen collectively to symbolise both their ambition and their alignment.

Today, Deepti sits in her own cabin, leading a team and overseeing the company’s exhibitions and express vertical. The scale has changed, but her essence hasn’t.

Looking back, she describes the journey as “nostalgic”—not because it was easy, but because it was meaningful.

Despite the demands of her role, Deepti has never allowed stress to define her. She celebrates her wins, big or small, with unapologetic joy, often indulging in shopping without even glancing at price tags.

More importantly, she remains grounded.

No matter how hectic the day, she returns home with a warm smile, fully herself, and with her family. For her, success has never been just professional.

The most defining moment of her journey didn’t happen in a boardroom.

It happened at home.

“When my elder daughter said she wanted to be like me,” Deepti shares, pausing, “that was the most rewarding moment of my life.”

In a world obsessed with titles and milestones, Deepti measures success differently. For her, being a role model to her child is the highest achievement.

From not knowing a single country in Europe to travelling across them, from standing under a bridge in doubt to leading a thriving enterprise, her story is not about knowing everything.

It’s about trusting yourself even when you don’t.

And sometimes, that makes all the difference.
