Last year in December, I completed editing and publishing over 25,000 poems on Boloji and I'm feeling quite chuffed about it :-)
So I wanted to share this happy news with you.
If all goes well, I'll be completing 17 years with Boloji in April 2022, having joined this website as Poetry Editor in April 2005.
It's been a long journey.....sometimes arduous, sometimes pleasurable, just like how Life is.
My thanks to all of you who kept sending your poems to Boloji and also to Rajender Ji and Kapil who've kept this website going....
Let me celebrate this success and happiness by sharing some nice, inspiring quotes with you. Hope you like this compilation.
A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. - Saul Bellow
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
One faces the future with one's past. - Pearl S. Buck
Defeat may serve as well as victory to shake the soul and let the glory out. - Edwin Markham
In a conflict between the heart and the brain, follow your heart. - Swami Vivekananda
Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for a kindness. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Parliament is a very hard taskmaster….One must be able to talk constantly and one must learn how to talk. - Tarkeshwari Prasad Sinha
You always admire what you really don't understand. - Blaise Pascal
Another belief of mine; that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise. - Margaret Atwood
Ambition is but avarice on stilts, and masked. - Walter Savage Landor
When we face pain in relationships our first response is often to sever bonds rather than to maintain commitment. - Gloria Jean Watkins (bell hooks)
People say I always write about such neurotic people. Well, tell me a Shakespeare play that isn’t about neurotic people. That’s what drama is. No problems, no drama. All works of narrative must have a point to do with the consequences of one’s action. If it turns out well it’s comedy; if badly, tragedy. - Stephen Sondheim
My doctor’s very good at every now and again hitting me with a big red bus full of drugs, because the whole point about cancer is it bloody finds a way through and it gets you in the end. Probably… it will get me in the end. - George Alagiah
Only love can heal the wounds of the past. However, the intensity of our woundedness often leads to a closing of the heart, making it impossible for us to give or receive the love that is given to us. - Gloria Jean Watkins (bell hooks)
Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. - Blaise Pascal
The mind unlearns with difficulty what it has long learned. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
If you are not happy about anything in your world or society, be willing to change it within yourself first. Don’t complain. Complaining won’t take you anywhere. Nothing will change unless you change. - Gandhi
What is reading, but silent conversation. - Walter Savage Landor
I’ve never thought for one minute: oh this line, oh this dissonance is going to turn this audience off. I’d better change it. Not once. That’s a fool’s game. To try to prejudge while you’re writing is a waste of time. - Stephen Sondheim
All human evil comes from a single cause, man's inability to sit still in a room. - Blaise Pascal
The woman could be everything wonderful and the man may still stray. The old saying “keep-your-husband-happy-so-he-won’t-stray” puts too much burden on a woman. I do feel that people can create a pattern in marriage that is not enhancing, and the man instead of dealing with the dissatisfaction and complex within himself and trying to work on the relationship, escapes it and goes some place else to feel better about himself. - Sangeeta Bijlani
Life can change in a minute, don’t take anything for granted. - Manu Sharma
Follow your bliss – your heart always knows the answer. - Phyllis Christopher
Few friendships would survive if each one knew what his friend says of him behind his back. - Blaise Pascal
Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change. - Confucius
I’ve always sipped something when writing lyrics, because it’s the words that are difficult. Writing music is hard, too, but you can always just sit at a piano and move your fingers around the keys – even if you’re not writing, you feel like you are. Lyric-writing is all sweat. - Stephen Sondheim
When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions - William Shakespeare
All men's miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone. - Blaise Pascal
Only hard work does not guarantee success, luck also plays an important role. Many people from this generation are in such a hurry to gain success that they take any shortcut that comes their way, which leads to disappointments after quick fame. - Rauf Lala
I try not to read my reviews, but there’s always some friend who’ll come along and, under the guise of trying to comfort you, let you know that you’ve been speared. - Stephen Sondheim
With age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone. - Oscar Wilde
We're only temporary, let's make our temporary extraordinary. - Aaron Gilbert
Death is the wish of some, the relief of many, and the end of all. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
That's all I had to share for now.
Take Care and Stay Safe.
