I first heard this song in my teens and now even after so many years, it's as touching and beautiful to me, as it was then....

The singer is Lata Mangeshkar, lyricist is Abdul Hayee (pen name - Sahir Ludhianvi) and music is by Dattaram Baburao Naik (also known as N Datta).

This timeless song is from the movie Sadhna (1958) that won a Filmfare award for the best story. The writer was Mukhram Sharma.
