Archna Sahni

Archna Sahni was born in India. She views herself as a world citizen with emotional roots in Canada, India, Malaysia, and Tibet. She is the recipient of the inaugural Agha Shahid Ali Prize for Poetry, and received Honourable mention for E.J. Pratt Medal and Poetry Prize. Her work has been published in literary journals such as South Asian Ensemble, Tibetan Review, Westerly, The Brown Critique, The Post-Post Modern Review and Poetry Chain, and international poetry anthologies. Her debut book of poems First Fire (Calicut: Yeti, 2005) received the praise of literary critics, and her second book of poems Another Nirvana is being published by the Toronto publisher Mawenzi in spring 2018. Archna is also an educator and scholar who has taught in both India and Canada. She holds a PhD in English Literature from Panjab University and an MED in Adult Education and Community Development from OISE, University of Toronto.
