Superstitious Me

Who can ever explain

the origin of superstition

and its rationale...?

In spite of education in science

I can hardly be convinced

and perhaps many are in the same state

to hesitate to go ahead

if an innocent well meaning cat

crosses our path!

The other day it was different...

Barely ten feet ahead of me

spotting a small cat

crossing the road from right to left

I applied the brake

to allow the little thing to cross over safe.

But the little pussy

stopped in the middle,

perhaps read my mind

and instead of crossing the road, went back...

When our eyes met

I could see a smile

on the face of the cat,

it was not to jeer,

but on 'joy of giving' week

to dispel my fear and give me cheer...
