A Serene Goodbye

I knew not about this journey,
neither did I book my tickets for it.
Many a day I have thought about this distant day
that will bring this good bye to you.
I will say this for you though,
that a journey does not end until we say it does.

My heart is heavy within,
as I ponder on the travel done.
Where have we gone?
And what sights have we seen?
It was my garden and you did the tilling,
It was my song and you set the tune.

And now the time has come to say good bye
for I have a journey in waiting...
and so let me go in all my serenity
for you know that I am and you will be.
