We pray and plan,
Care and nurture,
Protect and guide,
Prime them grow.

Picking up the thorns,
Laying petals in the path.
From complete dependence,
To total independence.

The wings become strong,
The future becomes clear.
Time arrives,
For them to fly.

To make their own home,
To attain their goals.
We are left to ponder,
With the hearts full and empty.

A conflict very painful;
Yet, giving a bountiful.
The cycle goes on,
On and on.

Comment A great depiction of the state of mind of parents seeing the sibling grow
...From complete dependence,
To total independence.....
And allowing the cycle roll on.......which is their own making...

" With the hearts full and empty."
"Full" seeing the success of their siblings.
"Empty"

This is what is called the state of
" unconditional sacrifice"....knowing pretty well that the love of the sibling shall no more be 100% theirs and it is going to be divided between the parents and the new life partner....still they happily plan and celebrate the transition....accepting the situation of
"Divided love of children - "
...just to keep the cycle of life on......
" The cycle goes on,
On and on"...
So did our parents and so we have to do...

Delicate, touching and sensitive composition....
