Theme: Adolescence

Adolescents

Daguerreotypes of their mothers, when young,
or fathers; adolescence proves to be
the turning point, when idiosyncrasy
creaks through, the jaw squares, and control of tongue
almost achieved, though over-wise among
the others of its kind, the frequently
postured opinions creativity
enforces, vehement, like something sprung
to change the course of things, or inward turned
against the self in frightening complexes
that culture acne; adults loom, unknowing
cogs in a process, and in this discerned
as heading nowhere, defunct in both sexes,
adopting adolescence to keep going.
