Theme: Parenting

Through the window
There a little sparrow
Caught my eye!
Flapping rigorously
Its tender wings
Across the wind blew
And the little one
Took off its first flight
Only to fly a little and
Caress the grass below

From a high, anxiously
Landed without delay
A couple so naïve
And innocent, perhaps
Its soaring father and
The gliding mother
Chirping with their souls
Onerously encircling it
Flying and trying hard
Stumbling the air around
And causing turbulence
For the struggling fledgeling
To stand on its tender feet
Teaching it the art to
Flap the wings and to fly

I then feebly heard
The little one chirping
As if to call and say
I know now, how to fly
Slowly but steadily
This time it took off
And happily landed
Once on a branch
Then on the ground
The father and mother
Started watching it
Perfectly going round

Recovered myself
From the throttled mind
After I felt a soft hand
From my back wiping
The sweat on my forehead
Then with a gentle smile
And in the sweetest voice
Yet confident to sound
Little one is safe with its
Parents around; Saying so
Left me alone in my room

I then whispered to myself
In a low sound
Thank you!
My dear parents
For your endearment
So pristine and so sweet

Comment Thank You Ruprada Ji!

Composing poetry is a funny addiction...
In fact the first three lines of your poem sparked new thoughts about life and I composed another verse immediately and posted it as "Dawning Realization" - in recollecting the dear missing souls...
