Glassy Illusion

  She longs and desires
to hold and caress
to own and possess
this illusion that shines
and that is
smooth, slippery and fragile
just like glass.
She tries hard
to hold on to it.
Harder she tries
faster it slips and
faster it slides.
Out of her palms.
But her tight baby-like hold
doesn't want to let go of it.
slowly and eventually
shattering it into pieces.
Its splinters piercing
through her skin
and drawing blood from her vein
and leaving behind a treasure of pain.
She longed to have and not let go of the glass
No wonder she holds splinters in her hands !
